The Great Pound

Brilliant Uncirculated £1 coins were first introduced in 1983, and what makes these pound coins unique is that they are produced to exceptional quality by the Royal Mint.

The Royal Mint upholds the utmost striking standards to ensure an exquisite finish on brilliant uncirculated (BU) coins. This meticulous process yields currency of unparalleled detail, setting it apart from coins produced for general circulation.

Brilliant Uncirculated coins are crafted with hand-finished dies. Unlike laser-treated proof coins, machines feed these into the coin press and strike twice.

This manufacturing process creates coins with a high level of detail that truly captivates the eye. Brilliant Uncirculated coins hold exceptional value as they are rare and in nearly mint condition.

Rare coins to look for include the 1998 Royal Arms £1 and the 1999 Scottish Rampant Lion £1 Brilliant Uncirculated Coins, released in special limited issue editions.

You can now amass a stunning collection of Brilliant Uncirculated £1 coins from 1983 to 2022, featuring an impressive array of captivating designs.
